I come from a musical family so it was natural for me follow in their example. I sang my first solo in church was I was 9, and started playing guitar when I was 11. My first guitar hero was Chet Atkins and by the time I was 13, with the help of my older brother's Chet Atkins method book and record, I had make good progress in that country fingerpicking style. A year later I discovered James Taylor and then spent countless hours working out his style of playing. Years later, however, my real "road to Damascus" epiphany came when I heard Joe Pass play solo jazz guitar. I was, from that moment on, set on a decades-long odyssey of learning to play jazz. In the late 90s and early 2,000s I played many solo guitar gigs for corporate events--standards and Bossa Nova tunes. But these days the bulk of my performances are as a one-man-band playing classic rock, blues, country, R&B and jazz. The diversity of musical genres in my repertoire is one of my calling cards.
